Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Rob Malatesta, and I am the head personal trainer at Health Fitness Toronto, an organization committed to helping you surpass every expectation as it pertains to physical excellence. I have spent the past 21 years trying to break down the human machine, evaluate all of its components, and determine the most effective methods for maximizing every parameter of physical training, without sacrificing vitality and well being, nor even forcing you to give up your favorite meals. Rather, my philosophy towards an active yet balanced lifestyle based on sound nutrition and excellent habits will allow you to experience an abundance of energy and a far greater sense of well being than you’ve likely ever experienced.
As a strength and conditioning coach, I believe far more is needed than simply leading a client through basic exercise movements. My extensive background in human physiology, anatomy and biomechanics, along with my experience in sports psychology and coaching allow me to practice a well rounded approach to personal training by working with the client on both a physical and emotional level. Performing rituals in the gym repeatedly, no matter how flawless the technique, will only get you so far if the proper mindset and motivation is lacking. Likewise, if one has a deficiency in some critical nutrient or suffers from chronic sleep deprivation, all the intensity in the world will only lead to burnout. It is imperative that every need is addressed and mandatory that unaddressed needs be immediately identified.
Part of my mandate in working with my clients is a comprehensive approach to physical fitness. By comprehensive, I mean literally leaving no stone unturned. Most personal trainers will direct you through basic exercise movements and make occasional vague diet recommendations. My approach involves educating each individual so as to prepare them for a healthy lifestyle by enabling them to think for themselves. Ultimately, every person should understand the logic behind the decisions they make, rather than blindly following orders. I will not leave you on a treadmill for twenty minutes and count that towards your time. Rather, I endeavour to make every moment a learning experience, where you will enrich your knowledge on a wide range of topics and feel confident that you are going in the right direction towards achieving your goals.
